Mad Max Fury Road - LaF 127

The Revenant - LaF 113

On January 14, the Academy Award nominees were announced to the world, with The Revenant garnering the most nominations. More importantly, episode 113 of The LaF Podcast came out featuring their review of Leonardo DiCaprio's newest film The Revenant. The film follows the struggle of Hugh Glass survival efforts after being mauled by a bear and left for dead by his hunting team. The L-Train and Mr. Bull discuss director Alejandro G Inarritu's struggle to capture the film using only natural light and remote locations, whether Tom Hardy's character was evil or pragmatic, and where the opening scene ranks among the best actions sequences ever filmed. Wee LaF for the December 11 Weekend - LaF 103

Are you going to the movies this weekend? Don't make plans until you listen to episode 103 of LaF. The L-Train and Mr. Two-Frames are reviewing two new films that are hitting cinemas around the country for the December 11th weeeknd. First, is In the Heart of the Sea, directed by Ron Howard, starring Chris Hemsworth, Cillian Murphy, and Brendan Gleeson. The film is the retelling of the doomed 1820s whaling ship The Essex, which was sunk by a sperm whale. This true story inspired Herman Melville to write Moby Dick. Also opening in wide release, is the British gangster film Legend starring Tom Hardy as both Reggie and Ron Kray, the notorious criminals who ran the East End of London for most of the 1960s. The fellas have streaming and Redbox picks for those not venturing out to the movies.

Wee LaF for the May 15 Weekend - LaF 43

The Summer movie season is fully upon us this weekend. In episode 43, the L-Train and Mr. Two-Frames preview two huge releases for the May 15th weekend. First up is Mad Max: Fury Road starring Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron. For thirty years, fans have been waiting for the fourth Mad Max film from director George Miller and the guys from LaF could not be more excited. Pitch Perfect 2 is the second film opening in wide release this weekend.  Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson reprise their roles from the 2012 sleeper hit Pitch Perfect. This counter-programming is going to make the Box Office Challenge interesting as both hosts have a film opening this weekend. If you plan to stay at home, the guys have Redbox and Amazon Prime picks for you. Starting this week, the L-Train will also give a net pick for Netflicks.

This film is an adaptation of the award-winning same named novel about a military police officer investigating the deaths of numerous child murders in Stalin-era Soviet Union. As an added bonus, the L-Train and Mr. Two-Frames review Beyond the Reach starring Michael Douglas(spoilers from 21:48-28:05) and Danny Collins starring Al Pacino. Tune in to this jam packed show.

Wee LaF for April 17 Weekend - LaF #35

LaF is discussing three films on this Weekend Entertainment Edition of LaF. The biggest release of the weekend is the sequel Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 which stars Kevin James reprising the titular role after six long years. For the horror fans, MTV is releasing the supernatural thriller Unfriended, which stars a bunch of scared teenagers being haunted in a chat room. Lastly, in limited release is Child 44 starring Tom Hardy and Gary Oldman. This thriller about a Stalin-era military police officer's investigation into a series of child murders is one of the L-Train's most eagerly anticipated films of the Spring.
